LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE

HEALTH ASSISTANTS

NURSING SERVICES PROMOTE GOOD PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH AS CRITICAL TO A STUDENT’S ABILITY TO LEARN.

  • Develop action plans for students with medical conditions (i.e.,allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures)

  • Monitor immunization status, oral and physical examination requirements

  • Input data on medical conditions in student file and communicate to district employees

  •  Screening students:

    • Vision: Grades K, 2, 5, 8

    • Hearing: Grades K, 2, 5, 8, 10

    • Scoliosis: Grades 7 (girls), 8 (boys)

  • Training:

    •  In-service for non-licensed employees who administer medication or provide first aid

    • Universal precautions

    • Health education topics: nutrition, medical emergencies

  • Supervision of Health Assistants

  • Employee Health – Tuberculosis Screening

  • Ensure Public Health – infectious, contagious or communicable diseases

  • Assist in district and site COVID response and planning

  • Working with families during COVID-based quarantine: intake, quarantine protocols, return to campus protocols.

NURSING SERVICES NORTH COUNTY CONSORTIUM

  • Preschool student home visits with School Psychologist and Special Education Teachers

  • Attend Individual Education Meetings for students with medical needs

  • Case management of students with significant medical needs
