Dear WUSD Community:
On March 21, we received a letter from our COVID testing partner Achieve Health Management (AHM) informing us that for the time being they would no longer be able to provide testing to uninsured members of our community.
According to the letter, this is due to some recent changes in the funding for COVID testing through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the federal agency responsible for reimbursement of funds for COVID testing and vaccination for the uninsured and undocumented. Unfortunately, HRSA has exhausted its existing funds and is awaiting additional funding from Congress.
The letter states, in part, “We are confident that additional funding will be provided to HRSA, but we don’t have visibility into the exact timeline for that to occur, if indeed it does. Therefore, beginning 3/23/2022 we will no longer be able to provide testing for patients who are uninsured. During this time, we will continue to accept patients who have their own health insurance coverage.”
WUSD will continue to offer testing for students and staff regardless of insurance, but family members and community members who are uninsured will not be able to be served at our clinics for the time being.
AHM will also be launching an upgraded version of their online testing registration tool that will automate the process of insurance eligibility and verification in order to better identify the appropriate third-party payers for billing for COVID testing.
It is anticipated that Congress will renew funding for HRSA, but the timing and amount is still uncertain. As soon as something changes and we can start serving all our community members again, we will make an announcement.

WUSD continuará ofreciendo pruebas para los estudiantes y el personal independientemente del seguro, pero los miembros de la familia y los miembros de la comunidad que no tengan seguro no podrán ser atendidos en nuestras clínicas por el momento.
AHM también lanzará una versión mejorada de su herramienta de registro de pruebas en línea que automatizará el proceso de elegibilidad y verificación del seguro para identificar mejor a los terceros pagadores apropiados para la facturación de las pruebas de COVID.
Se anticipa que el Congreso renovará los fondos para HRSA, pero el momento y la cantidad aún son inciertos. Tan pronto como algo cambie y podamos comenzar a servir a todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad nuevamente, haremos un anuncio.
