Hello WUSD families: I just wanted to check in with all of you about the weather and plans for school tomorrow. We are fortunate here in Windsor to avoid many of the flooding issues that plague other parts of our community, and thus as of now we are planning on holding school tomorrow (1/5) at all WUSD campuses. If that changes or issues arise at any of our campuses we will alert families immediately, but as of now school will carry on as normal tomorrow. If you have particular concerns regarding the weather, please reach out to your individual school sites. Best regards, Jeremy Decker Superintendent Windsor Unified School District

Rep. Huffman Announces 2022 Congressional App Challenge Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) today announced the start of the 2022 Congressional App Challenge for high school students in California’s Second Congressional District. “The Congressional App Challenge is an excellent opportunity for students in my district to build their skills in the STEM field,” said Rep. Huffman. “From apps like the COVID-19 contact tracing tool to combat the pandemic, to a free 3D graphing software to ease financial burdens on students, I’m always impressed by the apps students submit. I’m looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us in this year’s competition.” Students must register to participate on the App Challenge website and submit their work by November 1, 2022. Apps are judged using the following criteria: quality of the idea, including creativity and originality; implementation of the idea, including user experience and design; and demonstrated excellence of coding and programming skills. Established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, this Congressional App Challenge competition invites high school students from all participating congressional districts to compete by creating and exhibiting their software application, or “app,” for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice. It is designed to promote innovation and engagement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education fields. Students can register for the Congressional App Challenge here. Read more about the House Student App Challenge here. ### Congressman Jared Huffman represents California’s 2nd Congressional District, which spans the North Coast of the state from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Oregon border, and includes Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, and Del Norte counties. He currently serves on the Committee on Natural Resources, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. In the 117th Congress, he chairs the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Oceans, and Wildlife. He is the founder of the Congressional Freethought Caucus.
